This part of Borneo does not only posses the most incredible wildlife, it also has  wonderful upmarket Resorts at a great price.

Kinabatangan River
The virgin mangrove wetlands of the  rain-forest is teeming with wildlife. It houses 10 primate species, including Proboscis monkeys. There is also a wide variety of bird and exotic plant life.

Sandakan area
Sipadan - Turtle Island
Mention the East coast of Sabah and the magic of snorkelling and  scuba instantly springs to mind. This area is a marine wonderland and Sipadan is world renowned. Another must do is to visit one of the Turtle Islands that lie just off the coast of Sandakan. Only 50 people are allowed on a turtle Island at one time, so you’ll have to go on a tour and book well in advance.  Observe the Green Turtles or Hawksbill lay their eggs & experience the excitement as the tiny hatchlings scurry to the sea.

Sepilok
Get up close with the Orangs at the famous Sepilok Wildlife Rehabilitation centre.

Poring

Wonderful natural hot springs at the base of Mt Kinabalu. One or three hour jungle walks - complete with waterfalls and also a stunning canopy walk like no other.

Gomantong Caves
Swiftlets that produce the valuable nests, bats and thousands of insects that live in the rich guano on the floor.
A truly different experience.

Mt Kinabalu
Mt Kinabalu,  at 4100 m is the highest peak between the Himalayas and Papua New Guinea. Despite its height it is very easy to climb and does not require any special equipment or training. Anybody with sufficient stamina can climb the mountain.

Sarawak
Malaysia Airlines flies regularly into Kuching the capital of Sarawak. The endless rivers of Sarawak form the vast transport backbone of Sarawak. A place of mystic, jungles, tradition and tribal culture.

The Sampan

Wooden river boats, known as sampans or tambangs (as they’re known in Kuching)  are a common mode of transport in Sarawak, They are exciting, cheap and a useful mode of transport along the waterways of the jungles and the cities. A must do while in Sarawak.

Adopt an Orangutan
An animal lover’s dream. What could be more exciting - adopt an orangutan or do some volunteer work at Matang Wildlife Centre.

Longhouses

There are over 4,500 longhouses in Sarawak, built on stilts and containing up to 50 different families, all ruled by a chief. They are inhabited by members of more than 20 distinct ethnic groups and there are certain longhouses were we can arrange for you to stay.
