SELAMAT DATANG

Intriguing - Mysterious - Tribal - Borneo
A Natural Wonderland

Amazing Malaysia
Amazing jungles, wild life, marine life & exotic plant life
makes Malaysian Borneo a nature lovers paradise.

Located north of Australia, Borneo is the third largest Island in the world. The island is ruled by three countries - Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia.  Separated by the  sovereign state of Brunei, the Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah occupy approx 26% of the island.

Orangutan

Mention Borneo  & an image of the Orangutan instantly spring to mind. With so many human traits & it's impossible not to feel connected to this incredible creature. Sighting Orangs in the wild or at a rehabilitation centre is an equally moving experience. Further more - by adopting an orphaned orangutan baby, you have the option to make a difference.

Multi - Cultural

Borneo is a  rich multi-cultural society steeped in tradition. Malay is the official language of Malaysia, although English and Chinese are also widely spoken. If you are seeking an exotic ceremony with a complete difference, this is the place. You could marry according to traditional Malay custom, with a Chinese tea drinking ceremony, or a Hindu  ceremony. You will even find that a conventional Christian service is likely to have a unique Malaysian flavour to it. For the more daring, there’s the option of being married according to tribal rituals in the Borneo jungle. Imagine being married by a Chieftain in all his finery, the party to follow will be beyond your wildest dreams.

The Best Time to Marry
Borneo is famous for its tropical rain- forests, therefore the driest months of the year would suit a Wedding the best. The highest sunshine hours and the lowest rainfall  are generally during  January and February, this is closely followed by March and December. The highest rainfall is during September and October, followed by May and November.

Getting There
Borneo is easy to get to - you either fly to the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur and across to Sabah or Sarawak in Borneo, or you could fly via Brunei and then onto your location of choice - Sabah or Sarawak.

Sabah
Known as the Land Below the Wind and also as Land of the Sacred Mountain (named after the imposing Mt Kinabalu), Sabah is a land of mystic and natural diversity. With an immense  variety of flora, fauna & animal life, Sabah has one of the largest rain-forests in the world, you  will find many interesting species of wild-life - amongst them the pigmy elephant, gibbons, hornbills,  proboscis monkeys and the Orangutans.

Sarawak
Malaysia Airlines flies regularly into Kuching the capital of Sarawak. The endless rivers of Sarawak form the vast transport backbone of Sarawak. A place of mystic, jungles, tradition and tribal culture.

Men's Native Tatoos

The Bunga Terung, a representation to the eggplant flower, is the first tattoo a Borneo male would have received. The passage of a boy coming into manhood. Of a spiral design at the center of the eggplant flower you find the Tali Nyawa, the rope of life, which also  resembles the underside of a tadpole - a symbol of new life.
