Getting Married in New Caledonia
The law has now changed in New Caledonia - Two people that are not of French Nationality, provided that they are not of the same sex and at least 18 years old are now able to get married in New Caledonia without the previous requirement of having been a resident for over three months. French law stipulates certain requirements and procedure which YOURWeddings will take care of. Procedures such as: - the couple must submit an application file at least one month before the publication of the Banns & the marriage has to be publicly solemnized at the Town Hall, which is done in the presence of a sworn Interpreter or Translator. As with all of YOURWeddings Events - it is your job to enjoy your up and coming Wedding and for us to take care of all the legalities.
A Town Hall Chapel Wedding If you choose to hold your Ceremony in the Town Hall Chapel - We could personalize your Wedding by decorating the Chapel and playing your selected music. The time allowance at the Town Hall Chapel depends upon how many marriages are booked for the day, therefore a week day would be advantageous.
A Resort Wedding
Both the L'Merdien in Noumea & L'Escapade (offshore Noumea) have lovely seaside Wedding Chapels within the grounds and regardless if the Wedding Ceremony takes place in a Resort chapel or on the beach, it is also a requirement that you attend a brief ceremony at the Town Hall as well. If you choose a Resort Wedding, for the Town Hall ceremony there are two options. The Bride & Groom could do this alone with their two witnesses, or the guests could also attend.
A Wedding Venue at an Apartment Complex
If you choose to stay at an apartment complex during your stay, there are a couple of stunning Apartment complexes in Noumea that have fantastic venues. With this option you could self-cater your stay & also select an informal Restaurant to hold your reception. In addition - the Town Hall requirement is also necessary as in the Resort Wedding option.
